July – Picnic

Venue: Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.

A unique initiative was taken for this monthly sabha. Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Canada, first-ever organized an outdoor picnic with a variety of activities for all, kids, youth and elders. This was planned at Picnic area 3 in Island lake conservation area, Orangeville.
This being a full day picnic, everyone gathered at the venue around 10 am. Outdoor and fun activities started first until lunch. Youth played so many games which they used to play when they were kids. These outdoor games gave them a chance to revive all the childhood memories. The lunch was prepared by lady members and was served in the early afternoon.
After lunch, some members took quick tour of the conservation area and the others rested. Also, the picnic day being a slightly rainy day, members played group activities in tent in the afternoon. One of the game was related to ancient Indian scriptures and was informative plus entertaining activitiy. Fruits, juices and light snack were served in the late afternoon.
Another round of group activities and outdoor activities started in the after which lasted until the evening. Like any traditional Gujarati gathering, this picnic was also ended with a round of Graba, a Gujarati traditional dance. The members separated after dinner. Around 50 members attended the picnic.
